Put them on the spot, not on trial.

There's a line. On one end: “AI taught me.” On the other: “AI did it for me.” Every kid who used AI last night is somewhere on that line, and our job is to figure out where. A detector can't tell you. The kid can — if you put them on the spot and ask them to show you what they know.

The Problem

AI detection isn't evidence

I've watched a colleague accuse a kid on a Turnitin percentage. It went about how you'd expect. A detector hands you a number you can't defend to a parent, and every new model resets the arms race anyway. Here's what the research actually says:

  • 14 detectors tested — none reached 80% accuracy
  • Non-native English writers get flagged at alarming rates
  • OpenAI shut its own detector down. Vanderbilt turned Turnitin's off.
The Solution

Move the proof somewhere AI can't reach

So I stopped trying to catch AI and changed what I ask for. The writing that has to be theirs happens in class, in a locked window. A take-home paper earns a quiz written from that paper. Tests come in versions no two periods share. Nobody gets accused of anything — the assignment just doesn't need a detector.

  • Digital Blue Book — in-class writing, locked down
  • ProveIt — a quiz built from the student's own paper
  • TestHub — randomized versions, lockdown entry
  • Draft Coach — drafts that show their work

Early feedback from a real classroom.

I've been wrestling with AI and student writing all year. These tools finally let me feel confident about what my students actually know. No more guessing, no more accusations.

Encrypted Everything

All data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest. Student work is encrypted at the application level before it even hits the database.

Minimal Data Collection

No student emails. No passwords. No birthdates. Students enter a display name and submit their work—nothing else. All data encrypted and auto-deleted on a strict retention schedule (30 days by default).

AI That Doesn't Train

Anthropic (Claude) does NOT train on your data. Student names are never sent to the API—only writing content. Zero Data Retention agreement: Anthropic stores nothing after each request completes.

FERPA & COPPA Aligned

No student directory info collected. Teacher-controlled access. Data deletion on request. Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) available for districts.

Do I need district approval?

Nope. This is teacher-priced for teachers paying out of pocket. No procurement, no IT tickets, no waiting until June. Your school can pay for it later — but you don't have to wait for them.

Can my department or school pay instead?

Yes. Department plans are $8 per teacher per month (or $80 per teacher per year) for 3 to 29 teachers, and school plans cover every teacher in your building for $240/month (or $2,400/year) — priced to fit under most purchase-order thresholds, with a student-data agreement (DPA) available on request. Email [email protected] and we'll set your team up.

What if I want to cancel?

One click. No guilt trip. No “talk to a representative.” You're a teacher—I respect your time.

Built by a tired teacher, for tired teachers.

Ryan - Founder of RCNR

I'm Ryan—a tech teacher in Utah, AI consultant on the side, and now the founder of RCNR AI.

I'm the guy at school everyone comes to with “Is there a tool that can help me...” and “Why doesn't this expensive tech the district paid for actually work like it should?” I got tired of saying “not really” and started building the answers myself. First for my own classroom, then for the teachers down the hall, and now for anyone who's sick of tools that almost work.

RCNR is literally just me, a crippling case of ADHD, and an unhealthy relationship with sleep. I've got a crew of teacher friends who keep me honest—they bring me their problems, test everything I build, and have zero problem telling me when something sucks.

I'm not trying to “disrupt” education. I'm not trying to maximize shareholder value. I'm not selling out, and I'm definitely not selling my soul. I'm just a teacher, still in the classroom, trying to pay off my car, save up for a rainy day, and get my kids the yard they deserve.

I know the teacher life. I know the pain points. And I know how to fix them.

Let me pull the all-nighters so you don't have to.
